Built-in reservation feature connect to own MySQL database

Dear all,

Would you tell me how Built-in reservation feature connect to own MySQL database so that when a timeslot is booked, no other can book the same timeslots

I know php and mysql.. Would you help me to start? Do I need to write the custom feature and How to begin?

Or it has other ways to do the same function?
