Functionality to buttons

A bit lost here. Created an app i liked using a template, but couldn't change text color and was told to create custom template so did so and it is attached. But now I can't find the option to add the link to the buttons.  Attached screen shot of my " template" but no options to add links, etc. to the onscreen buttons. -- should i have just created spaces in the template and then added the images and text? I get that, but still not sure how to give them functions. when i click on them no windows open up.
